Big 12 Represented by 48 on MLB Opening Day

All 14 Big 12 schools are represented on Major League Baseball Opening Day rosters with two managers and 46 players appearing on active 26-man rosters or the Injured List for the 2026 season.
 
Arizona leads the Conference with manager Terry Francona and nine former Wildcats on MLB rosters, while Texas Tech follows with seven alumni across the league. Arizona State placed five players followed by Baylor with four, while Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU and West Virginia each produced three Big 12 alumni on Opening Day rosters. BYU, Cincinnati and UCF each tallied two representatives, while Kansas, Kansas State and Utah were represented by one player apiece. Rob Thomson (Kansas) rounds out the alumni list as the manager of the Philadelphia Phillies.
 
The New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants opened their seasons on Wednesday, March 25, while the bulk of MLB teams are scheduled to begin the 2026 season on Thursday, March 26.
