Three Records Fall on Day 3 of Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two Big 12 Championship meet records and one Conference record fell on the third day of the 2026 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship presented by Allstate at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Arizona State sits atop both standings at the conclusion of the first 24 events. The Sun Devils lead the men’s competition with 1,032.5 points, while their women’s squad has accumulated 960.5 points.
 
Diving action opened the evening with Utah senior Elias Petersen winning the men’s 1-meter event, scoring 400.10. Arizona’s Luke Hernandez (399.15) and Gage Dubois (396.10) took home the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
 
Arizona State swept the butterfly events to open the championship finals swimming events. In the women’s 100 butterfly, sophomore Julia Ullmann touched first in 51.97, followed by teammate Miriam Sheehan (52.48). Arizona’s Maryam Sheikhalizadehkhanghah placed third in 52.50. On the men’s side, ASU junior Ilya Kharun captured the gold in the 100 butterfly with a Big 12 Championship record time of 43.77, while Arizona’s Haakon Naughton (44.69) and ASU’s Filip Senc-Samardzic (44.95) rounded out the podium.
 
In the 400 individual medley, Arizona State junior Alexa Reyna claimed the women’s title in 4:09.22, followed closely by teammate Sonia Vaishnani (4:10.52), while BYU’s Lucy Warnick touched the wall third in 4:15.78. In the men’s race, BYU’s Tanner Nelson earned the event title in 3:44.46, edging Arizona State’s Reece Grady (3:44.55) and Utah’s Strahinja Maslo (3:45.89).
 
Albane Cachot won the women’s 200 freestyle in 1:44.58 for ASU, with Arizona’s Kayman Neal (1:45.33) and fellow Sun Devil, Grace Lindberg (1:45.35), finishing second and third. On the men’s side, Remi Fabiani became the second Sun Devil to break a Big 12 Championship record on the day. The graduate student captured gold in the 200 freestyle with a winning time of 1:31.24, ahead of Arizona’s pair, Tomas Lukminas (1:32.04) and Ralph Daleiden Ciuferri (1:32.43), who earned podium finishes.
 
In the final diving event of the evening, Houston freshman Maisey Wolosyzn secured the women’s 3-meter title with a score of 332.15, followed by Kansas junior Shiyun Lai (326.80) and Utah sophomore Callie Eagleston (326.25).
 
The night ended with Arizona State sweeping the 400 medley relay competitions. The Sun Devils claimed the women’s 400 medley relay title in 3:30.68, finishing ahead of Arizona (3:30.96) and Cincinnati (3:34.21). The ASU men then capped the night by winning the men’s 400 medley relay in 2:57.48, breaking both the Big 12 Championship meet record and Conference record.
 
The top four finishers in each event earned All-Big 12 First Team honors, while fifth through eighth place earned Second Team recognition. Full results can be viewed here.
