GREENSBORO, N.C. – Arizona (women’s) and Arizona State (men’s) sit atop the standings following the first day of competition at the 2026 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship presented by Allstate at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Arizona opened the meet by winning the women’s 200 medley relay in 1:35.54. The Wildcats’ quartet of Lila Lillie, Eleni Gewalt, Patricija Kondraskaite and Julia Wozniak touched first to edge Arizona State, which finished second in 1:36.10. Cincinnati rounded out the podium with a third-place effort of 1:36.84.
On the men’s side, Arizona State captured the 200 medley relay title with a Big 12 Championship record time of 1:20.96. The Sun Devils’ relay of Adam Chaney, Andy Dobrzanski, Ilya Kharun and Tommy Palmer secured gold, followed by Arizona in second (1:24.83) and TCU in third (1:25.06).
In the first diving event of the week, Utah finished with a score of 312.55 in the Women’s Team Diving event to secure the gold and edge TCU (312.25). The Horned Frogs took home the silver, while Houston grabbed the bronze medal with a score of 289.70. In the Men’s Team Diving event, Utah won with a score of 371.95. TCU finished runner-up with a score of 346.85, while Arizona (339.50) earned the bronze medal to round out the medalists.
Arizona State earned its first gold medal on the women’s side in the 800 freestyle relay, touching first in 7:01.39. The Sun Devils’ team of Jordan Greber, Gerda Szilagyi, Grace Lindberg and Albane Cachot finished almost seven seconds ahead of Arizona, which clocked a runner-up time of 7:08.05. Cincinnati took third at 7:13.25 for its second bronze medal of the night.
The Sun Devils closed out the swimming portion of the evening with a victory in the men’s 800 freestyle relay and another Big 12 Championship record, posting a time of 6:08.31. Filip Senc-Samardzic, Jonny Kulow, Quin Seider and Remi Fabiani combined for the win and were followed by Arizona in second (6:12.65) and Utah in third (6:17.20).
After the opening six events, Arizona holds the lead in the women’s team standings with 172 points, followed closely by Arizona State with 168 and Cincinnati with 158 points. On the men’s side, Arizona State leads the field with 180 points, with Utah (168) and Arizona (166) close behind.
The 2026 Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championship presented by Allstate continues Wednesday with the preliminary events beginning at 10 a.m. ET, followed by the finals session at 5:15 p.m. ET. Both the preliminary heats and finals sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+.
