IRVING, Texas – Iowa State and Utah had multiple weekly award winners from the Big 12 Conference for week one. Quarterbacks Rocco Becht and Devon Dampier (offensive) were joined by TCU’s Bud Clark and Cincinnati’s Jake Golday (defensive) as honorees. ISU’s Kyle Konrardy and ASU’s Kanyon Floyd (special teams) also earned weekly accolades while BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier was the Freshman of the Week. The Utes also had the Big 12’s Offensive and Defensive Lines of the Week.
With a school record of 19-of-20 passing in Iowa State’s 55-7 win over South Dakota, Becht was efficient as he threw for 278 yards and a trio of scores without an interception. The junior completed his first 14 passes of the game while tossing multiple touchdowns for the fifth consecutive game. Becht also extended his school-record streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass to 20, which is the longest active streak in FBS.
Dampier completed 84% of his 25 pass attempts for 206 yards and two touchdowns without an interception as the Utes won 43-10 at UCLA. The junior’s completion percentage ranked fifth nationally for the week and fourth-best in program history. He also rushed for 87 yards and a score against the Bruins while guiding the Utah offense to points in seven of its first eight drives of the game.
With his second career pick-6 and five tackles in TCU’s 48-14 blowout win over North Carolina, Clark moved into ninth place in school history with 12 interceptions. The safety added five tackles in the win as the Horned Frogs’ defense held the Tar Heels to just 222 yards of total offense that included just 50 yards on the ground. North Carolina’s 14 points on Monday were also its fewest scored in a home game in eight seasons.
Golday tallied a team-high 12 tackles to go along with a sack for Cincinnati. The linebacker’s 12 tackles against Nebraska were his most as a Bearcat and put him among the Power Four leaders in Week One. His sack of Nebraska’s Dylan Raiola helped set up UC in field position to score on its ensuing possession to cut the Cornhuskers’ lead to three late in the game.
Konrardy picked up his second career weekly award after going two-for-two on field goals and four-for-four on extra points in ISU’s win over South Dakota. He booted a 63-yard field goal, which was the second-longest make in Big 12 history and tied for ninth-longest in NCAA history. His make from distance was also the longest made field goal in school history by five yards.
Floyd, Arizona State's punter, helped the Sun Devils win the field position game in its 38-19 win over Northern Arizona. The sophomore averaged 48.5 yards per kick, which led all Conference punters with multiple attempts. His performance also included a career-best 58-yard punt, which tied for the longest kick in the Big 12 for the week. Floyd also had four kickoffs that averaged 64.5 yards with no returns past the 25-yard line and a pair of touchbacks.
As the first freshman to start at quarterback in BYU history, Bachmeier guided the Cougars to a dominant 69-0 win over Portland State. The Murrieta, California native scored a total of five touchdowns, which were the most ever by a BYU freshman. Bachmeier was 7-for-11 passing for 97 yards while running for 32 yards in just two quarters of action as the Cougars scored the second most points in FBS over the weekend.

The Utes also had the Defensive Line of the Week after shutting down UCLA and quarterback Nico Iamaleava. The 10 points surrendered came after limiting the Bruins’ signal caller to just 11 completions on 22 attempts for 136 yards in the air. The Utah defense also held UCLA to just 84 rushing yards on 28 attempts in the win while allowing just two third-down conversions.
