Texas Tech’s Titus Kimaru (men’s) and UCF’s Yvone Sandui (women’s) were selected as Big 12 Runners of the Week for the week ending Sept. 14.
Kimaru was tabbed for his second Big 12 weekly award in as many collegiate meets, winning the Texas Tech Open. The freshman from Kenya outpaced the field by 23 seconds, traversing the 8K LCU Cross Country Course in 22:51.2. He has won both of his collegiate cross country races, each by over 20 seconds.
Sandui set a personal-best at the Southern Showcase, completing the 5K course at John Hunt Park in 17:11.9. The sophomore from Kenya posted the third-best time in program history, finishing 19th in a field that included nine Power 4 schools and over 500 entrants. She becomes the first UCF runner to receive weekly recognition from the Big 12.
