OSU and BYU Clinch Big 12 Cross Country Titles

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Oklahoma State men and BYU women clinched the 2025 Big 12 Cross Country Championship Presented by Allstate titles Friday morning in Lawrence, Kansas, at Rim Rock Farm. The Cowboys won their 14th overall title while the Cougars became the fourth women’s program to capture three straight titles, joining Colorado (1999-2007), Texas Tech (2008-10) and Iowa State (2016-18).

The day began with Oklahoma State’s Brian Musau (22:53.7) winning his third consecutive Big 12 Men’s Championship title, becoming only the second athlete to achieve the feat since Colorado’s Jorge Torres (2000-02).

OSU’s Adisu Guadie grabbed runner-up with a time of 22:55.3, followed by Iowa State’s Robin Kwemoi Bera (22:55.8) to round out the men’s podium. OSU’s Denis Kipngetich (22:56) and Iowa State’s Joash Ruto (22:57) finished out the top five of the men’s race. The Cowboys finished the race with five runners inside the top 10, earning the best team score since 2010 with 20 points.

BYU’s Jane Hedengren (18:29.6) outpaced the field to capture her first Big 12 Championship individual title, running the first sub-19 time at Rim Rock Farm in a Championship setting. The freshman also became the first BYU cross country athlete to earn an individual Big 12 Championship title since joining the league in 2023. West Virginia’s Joy Naukot finished as the runner-up with a time of 19:14.3, followed by BYU’s Riley Chamberlain (19:15.2) in the third slot of the women’s podium. Three more Cougars crossed the line within the top 15 to seal the 38-point victory.
