Four Big 12 Softball Programs Punch Tickets to Super Regionals

Arizona State, UCF, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech have advanced to the Super Regionals stage of the 2026 NCAA Tournament, tying the league’s record for most teams to advance to the second weekend since 2011. The Big 12's four programs are the second-most teams advancing from multi-bid leagues in this season's tournament.

The sixth-seeded Sun Devils were the first Big 12 team to punch their ticket to the Super Regionals on Sunday after hitting a walk-off grand slam in the regional final, upsetting fourth-seeded Texas A&M. ASU posted a 3-0 perfect record in the College Station Regional, claiming a win over McNeese and two over Texas A&M. The team will head to Austin, Texas, for a three-game series against the No. 1 seed Texas Longhorns, marking the program’s 11th overall Super Regionals appearance and first since 2022.

Sixth-seeded UCF claimed the Tallahassee Regional to advance to Super Regionals for the second time in program history. The Knights powered through games against Jacksonville State and Stetson before facing regional host No. 3 seed Florida State in two bouts on Sunday. FSU forced an if-necessary game after winning 2-1 before UCF captured a 2-1 win. The Knights will face the winner of the Los Angeles Regional final that features the No. 2 seed UCLA and No. 7 South Carolina.

No. 3 seed Texas Tech advanced to its second consecutive Super Regionals after winning three games at home. The Red Raiders faced Marist before taking down Ole Miss twice to claim the regional. In the first matchup against Ole Miss, TTU became the first of 641 teams since 2000 in NCAA history to come back and win after being down eight or more runs, claiming a 10-9 win in extra innings. The third-seeded Texas Tech will head to Gainesville, Florida to face the No. 2 seed Florida Gators.

Fourth-seeded Oklahoma State rounded out the Big 12’s advancing teams after capturing the Stillwater Regional with an unblemished 3-0 record. The Cowgirls took down Eastern Illinois before back-to-back wins against Stanford, a team that OSU had lost to twice earlier in the season. Making the team’s seventh overall Super Regionals appearance and sixth in the last seven years, the Cowgirls will travel to No. 1 seed Nebraska for a rematch during the 2026 campaign, as both teams are 1-1 against each other this season.

Arizona and Baylor fell in their respective regional finals, while Kansas finished its season in the Norman Regional.

Super Regionals will be held May 21-24. Game times and television designations for the three-game series will be announced Sunday evening by the NCAA.
