TCU’s Miles Becomes Big 12’s Highest WNBA Draft Selection Since 2022, League Totals Five Selections for Second Consecutive Year

NEW YORK – TCU’s Olivia Miles was taken with the No. 2 overall pick by the Minnesota Lynx as five Big 12 players were selected in the 2026 WNBA Draft. The Big 12 has now had at least five draftees in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2020 and 2021.

Miles’ selection marks the highest by a Conference player since NaLyssa Smith (Baylor) was taken No. 2 overall by Indiana in 2022. It is the ninth time in the last 10 seasons that a Big 12 player has been selected in the first round and the second consecutive year TCU has had a first-round selection.

Miles was joined by teammates Marta Suarez (Round 2, No. 16 overall) and Taylor Bigby (Round 3, No. 37 overall), Baylor’s Darianna Littlepage-Buggs (Round 2, No. 30 overall) and Utah’s Lani White (Round 3, No. 45 overall) as the five Big 12 selections.

Miles set records throughout the season, recording six triple-doubles, the most by a league player over a Big 12 career. The guard recorded the first triple-double by a league player in a NCAA Tournament game, helping lead the Horned Frogs to their second consecutive Elite Eight appearance. The Athletic First Team All-American was named Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Year after averaging 19.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.6 assists while shooting 48.1% from the field.

A total of 145 Big 12 players have been selected in the 30-year history of the professional league, including at least three in 22 of the last 23 seasons.

The 2026 WNBA preseason tips off on Saturday, April 25, while the regular season begins Friday, May 8. The full schedule for the league can be found on WNBA.com.
