UCF’s 1V8+ captured the first Big 12 Boat of the Week honors of the 2026 rowing season, after the Knights swept Jacksonville in a season-opening regatta.
The boat, coxswained by Audrey Vilender, posted the fastest time of the day on the home waters of Lake Pickett, 6:24.4. The race featured the spring collegiate debut of freshman Madison Lovejoy, along with Coralie Detre, who missed last season with an injury. They were joined in the boat by Sofia Naboni Nevado, Ines Martin, 2025 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Lucy Buckingham, Brigitte Kappler, Amalie Thorsen and 2025 Big 12 Rower of the Year Hannah Lovejoy.
The award marks the third for UCF’s first varsity eight+ since the beginning of last season, as the Knights rose to No. 14 in the CRCA poll, the highest mark in program history.
