BYU and Utah Share Big 12 Gymnastics Week Eight Honors

BYU’s Brynlee Andersen-Broekman (event specialist) and the Utah duo of Avery Neff (gymnast) and Abbi Ryssman (newcomer) collected Conference honors during week eight of the 2026 gymnastics season.

Andersen-Broekman collected an event title on beam with a 9.875 and tied her career-best 9.900 on floor. The junior’s floor performance was crucial in the Cougars’ floor rotation, which tallied a 49.550 as four of the six routines earned a 9.900 or better. BYU captured the victory, outlasting Denver 196.575-195.925.

Neff registered an all-around score of 39.700 for the second consecutive week in the dual against Southern Utah. She took the all-around title, her fourth straight, along with first-place finishes in vault and bars. The sophomore claimed her second perfect 10 in vault of the season and her third overall after scoring her first 10.000 on bars two weeks ago. Neff ranks fourth nationally in the all-around category, while she ranks within the top 10 in vault. This is her fifth honor this year and her fourth consecutive weekly accolade.

Ryssman claimed her second career event title after her 9.95 on beam placed first in the meet against the Flippin’ Birds. She also earned a 9.875 on bars to help the Red Rocks tie their season-best bars score of 49.625. Utah secured the meet 197.425-195.825.
