Arizona, Arizona State and Kansas Receive Big 12 Swimming and Diving Weekly Awards Selections

Arizona State’s Ilya Kharun (men’s swimmer), Arizona’s Gage DuBois (men’s diver) and Duncan Henderson (men’s newcomer) were tabbed as the winners on the Big 12 Men’s Swimming and Diving weekly awards. On the women’s side, Kansas’ Lydia Lafferty (women’s swimmer), Kansas’ Shiyun Lai (women’s diver), and Kansas’ Ivy Solt (women’s newcomer) rounded out the weekly honors for competition ending November 9.

Kharun led the Sun Devils to a dual meet win over No. 15 USC, setting pool records in the 50 freestyle (18.54), 100 freestyle (41.23) and 100 butterfly (43.55). Both of his 50 free and 100 butterfly times lead the country this season, while his 100 free ranks second. The junior also contributed a blazing 18.24 butterfly split in the 200 medley relay, helping Arizona State tie for the gold medal. It is his second Big 12 weekly this season and eighth of his career.

In his first meet of the season, DuBois placed second in both the 1-meter (372.60) and 3-meter (357.45) diving events against No. 15 USC. His top-three finishes helped Arizona secure the 182-118 win over the Trojans. This is DuBois’ first Conference weekly recognition this season and fifth of his career. He joins Luke Hernandez as the second Wildcat to earn Men’s Diver of the Week honors during the 2025 season.

Henderson delivered three personal bests against USC, winning the 100 backstroke (45.92), finishing second in the 200 backstroke (1:43.94), and anchoring the 200 free relay (19.11 split). He finished on the medal stand in all four events, while his 100 back time ranked No. 14 in the NCAA this season. The freshman from Los Alamos, New Mexico is the second consecutive Wildcat to be named the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Men’s Newcomer of the Week this season.

Lafferty highlighted her weekend with a pool record in the 100-yard backstroke (53.19) and a school record in the 100-yard butterfly (53.02) during Kansas’ meet against Nebraska. She also contributed a strong leadoff leg in the 200-yard medley relay. She is the first Jayhawk to be named Big 12 Women’s Swimmer of the week since Lezli Sisung earned the recognition on January 25, 2023.

Against Nebraska, Lai took home the 3-meter dive title (359.78) and placed runner-up in the 1-meter event (309.38). The junior has won three event titles this season with the Hawkeye Invitational the next meet on Kansas’ schedule. This is Lai’s second Big 12 weekly award of the season and ninth of her career.

In her third collegiate meet, Solt finished second in both the 1650-yard freestyle (16:54.52) and 500-yard freestyle (4:53.02), while contributing a 50.83 split in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The results bring her total count to eight top-three finishes this season.
