Big 12 Announces '50 Years Forward' A Celebration of Title IX

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the passage of Title IX, the Big 12 Conference announces 50 Years Forward, a campaign that will highlight women’s athletics pioneers and achievements from its member institutions.

Social media posts, in-venue recognitions at Big 12 Championships, and video vignettes will be used to honor the opportunities and accomplishments the landmark legislation has provided over the last 50 years, while casting an eye toward the next 50.

50 Years Forward is both a tribute and testament to the power of equality in collegiate sports,” commented Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.  “With every memorable play, winning moment and record set, we are reminded of just how far we have come, and how far we have the potential to go.  In recognizing the athletes and achievements of the last 50 years, we aim to highlight what’s possible when all student-athletes are empowered.”

The campaign will culminate with the 2023 NCAA Women’s Final Four, hosted by the Big 12 Conference, where in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Title IX, all three divisions will crown its champion at American Airlines Center in Dallas.
