Texas’ Logan Eggleston (First Team), Zoe Fleck (First Team), Asjia O’Neal (First Team), Madisen Skinner (Third Team), Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres (Honorable Mention) and Molly Phillips (Honorable Mention) along with Baylor’s Kara McGhee (Honorable Mention) and Iowa State’s Eleanor Holthaus (Honorable Mention) earned spots on the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s 41
st annual All-America teams.
The eight selections are the most for the league since 2018 when 13 Conference players were awarded. Texas’ three selections to the First Team leads the nation and marks the fourth consecutive season the Big 12 has had at least three First Team players. The Conference has had 234 All-America selections since it originated in 1996.
Eggleston has led the Longhorns to the Final Four and set the Big 12 record for career service aces (207). The three-time Big 12 Player of the Year ranks 13th in the nation in points per set (5.04) this season and is eighth all-time in Conference history with 1,886 kills. She is a three-time First Team All-American and has been recognized on the AVCA All-America teams for five-straight seasons.
Fleck becomes an AVCA All-American for the second-straight season. The 2022 Big 12 Libero of the Year is the first UT libero to average four-plus digs set since 2017 and was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week three times this season.
O’Neal leads the country with a .448 hitting percentage while leading the Longhorns with 110 total blocks. The first-time First Team member ranks third in the Big 12 with 1.26 blocks per set.
Skinner is second on Texas with 3.62 kills per set and has 69 digs and 42 blocks. This is her first selection to First Team after earning Third Team and Honorable Mention honors in 2020 and 2021.
Ka’aha’aina-Torres was the 2022 Big 12 Setter of the Year and ranks ninth in assists per set this season (11.30). Phillips has a .395 hitting percentage this season to go with 180 kills and 60 blocks.
McGhee earned her first All-American honor and finished the season with 282 kills and 174 blocks, placing fourth all-time for a single season in the Bears’ record book. The middle blocker tallied two Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week awards during the season.
Holthaus is the first Cyclone All-American since Jess Schaben also picked up Honorable Mention honors in 2018. The outside hitter is the only ISU player to be a four-time AVCA All-Region First Team member in addition to being the first to earn four All-Big 12 First Team nods. Holthaus also was the first to be selected as the AVCA Midwest Region Player of the Year.
